Recipe of the Week: Sweet and Sour Brussels Sprouts with Leeks

This week, we start with a few reminders, followed by the details of our big garlic planting day!

  • The drop-off schedule remains unchanged next week, even if Monday is Thanksgiving.  Remember that if you pick up your basket on the farm on Mondays, you can grab it out of the cold room later in the week if it’s easier for you.
  • We have just 3 weeks of baskets left!  This week and next week are on the same regular schedule for all partners, but watch out!  All partners will receive a basket the week of October 21st. That is to say, both biweekly groups will get a basket that week (even those who recieved a basket the week of the 14th).

Participatory Work Day: Garlic Planting- Saturday, October 19th

garlic plantedWe’re planning a big day of garlic planting, and all partners are welcome to attend!  The date is set for Saturday, October 19th, with the following Saturday (Ocboter 26th) as a rain date.  We’ll plan on working from 10h to about 16h, with a lunch break around noon.  For lunch, you’re invited to bring a potluck dish to share (with a list of ingredients for folks with food allergies or restrictions, please).  We’ll send an email out to confirm the change in case of rain, but if you don’t hear from us, that means we’re on!  Bring clothes you don’t mind getting dirty, and gloves if you want to use them.  Planting garlic involves a lot of bending over, so be prepared, and we’ll plan on doing some stretches at the end of the day.  Please RSVP if you plan on joining us, so we can prepare the day accordingly.  As always, children are very welcome, but must be under the supervision of an adult, as the farmers will be busy with the planting work.
